Gaspesian Community Sound

Vision is proud to partner with many different people, organizations, and institutions in Gaspé and Percé. One of our more recent partnerships is with Glenn Patterson, a PhD student in ethnomusicology who is working to record and document the different musical styles that are found in our area.

His blog, Gaspesian Community Sound, is an accessible part of his current research. Here, Glenn provides historical and personal backgrounds of the people he collaborates with, anecdotes of his experiences in Gaspé and with Gaspesians, explanations of musical clips, and videos of musicians. Glenn’s writing style is so expressive, you can almost hear him talking while you read and that is just one of the things that makes this project so compelling.
